4 reasons to travel to Greece in spring

Greece ● 02 March 2018

Spring holidays are fascinating, although most travellers prefer visiting a new destination in summer. Especially Greece is considered to be one of the top summer destinations in Europe due to its islands and the amazing sea. However, in my opinion, there is nothing better than travelling in spring. In this season of rebirth, the nature is at its best, and even winter destinations are ideal with warmer temperatures. Greece is an excellent place to visit in spring. And it is a pity not to know it. Here, you can be informed about the top 4 reasons why to travel to Greece in spring, and in a next article, we will describe you the top spring destinations in Greece!

Low prices

The renowned touristic islands in Greece, such as Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Corfu, are expensive in the high-season. Contrariwise, in spring, you can find perfect accommodation deals, and generally everything is cheaper than in summer. Travel agencies offer unbeatable packages for winter as well as summer destinations because for all these places, spring is middle-season. March is the best month to find super deals on the islands, but April (for example the week after Easter) can be also a very advantageous period.

Pleasant temperatures

During summer, the temperatures in Greece, and especially in southern Greece, Athens and Peloponnese, can be really warm. If you are not used to it, you may find it really exhausting. On the other hand, mountainous villages have very low temperatures, snow and ice from December to March. Thus, whether you want to visit a picturesque village in the slopes of a mountain, such as Pindos or Olympus, or a famous island in the Aegean Sea, during spring, the temperatures will be comfortable and pleasant with sun, which is not dangerous. That means you can wander around, sunbathe and explore important archaeological sites without suffering. Plus, on some southern islands, such as Crete and Rhodes, you can swim in the refreshing sea.

Away from mass tourism

If you are the type of traveller, who wants to discover the authentic side of each place, then spring is your season. It has not the melancholy of autumn, and you will feel that everything is being prepared for the summer. But at the same time, people are still relaxing, things are calm, you have time to talk to the local people and visit the hidden gems of each place away from the crowds of tourists.

Verdant nature

Spring is the most wonderful time of the year. The nature is verdant, flowers paint the valleys in various colours and you feel that you take part in a celebration. Even the driest islands have lush greenery, the mountains are ideal places for hiking, and you can take the most beautiful pictures ever. Just try it!
