5. Pnyka

Pnyka Hill is a spiritual place that locals love. Pnyka Hill was the place where Athenians gather in antiquity to share their philosophy, ideas and democratic beliefs. You can say that here is where democracy were born and grew. Today locals love it because of its great vibe and its beautiful natural surrounding. 
Enjoy a lovely view over the city any time and walk between ancient trees where all the famous ancient great men walked thousands years before you. 
It is best to be here early afternoon until the sunset. The light is amazing and the feeling unique!
Continue your peaceful walk around Filopappou Hill and the historical Thissio area. 
It is a sacred ground you are walking on, feel it!





4. Lycabettus Hill


Locals' best place after a long night out in the bars of the city. Lycabettus Hill with its gorgeous little white chapel on top is the hill of love where you can enjoy amazing sun rises but also wonderful sunsets over the city. You can get here by car and if you want you can walk around until the top of the hill. 
If you go up until you reach the white little church you will be amazed with the city landscape. The view is uninterrupted until Peiraias and in a clear day you can see further until the islands. You can also do outdoor activities such as cycling, running and other activities in Athens.





3. Arios Pagos

It is a big rock right beneath Acropolis that locals  love day and night. There is something special with this place as you just can't get enough of the view and the surrounding around you. No matter what time it is, there are always people relaxing on this rock. Usually, you will find young people, group of friends and couples and it is surely one romantic off the beaten path spot of Athens.
You can walk here and come up some stairs. Be careful not to wear slippery shoes. There is not any entrance fee.





2. Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center

The new gem of the city, a cultural paradise with various events and exhibitions on a daily basis. Visit the national opera house, the national library, do free yoga and pilates in the open park, get your kids to do kayak along the canal.
And then go to the top and enjoy the amazing view over the sea and take some great photographs of Athens that will stay in your world gallery forever. An absolute must visit while you are visiting Athens, ideal for solo travellers, family travellers and couples, as well. No entrance fee to most of the events and workshops and plenty of open space and kids garden for your kids or pets to play happily.

You can't say you have seen Athens if you don't go all the way up to Acropolis and the unique Parthenon! Parthenon is the symbol of Athens, the temple of democracy, the ancient master piece of the ancient Greek great civilisation. Today its fantastic architecture and its amazing architecture leaves you breathless!
If you are visiting Athens during the summer season, make sure you have water with you and wear a hat as it can be quite hot and busy. The sunset in Acropolis is a unique world experience!
