5 Tips for vacations on a Budget vol 1

In the past, i wasted a decent amount of money, while traveling without thinking in a smart way, maybe because no one had told me how i could travel on a budget. Also, this is why i was always expecting to have a good amount of savings before i even had to thing of my next destination.

Here are some tips, coming from my traveling experience, which really helped me to save money and be able to travel more without being miserable about my economic situation.

1. Always consider the transportation cost. Book as earlier as possible your tickets, a last minute booking is always the most expensive choice. Also consider the choice of traveling by train in places where it is possible, since it might be the cheapest choice of transportation. Especially if you are in your early twenties and you are traveling around Europe, Interrail is a low budget transportation which will allow you to explore all the continent.

2. In case you are going to book an airticket you should always be careful about the "hidden" taxes and the extra charges (for example the charge for every extra ba except the hand luggage) So always check the small letters. Also the very low cost tickets are not flexible when it comes to changing dates, so better choose the semi-flex tickets just in case there is a change in your plans, so not to lose your money.
3. Another way to find cheap air tickets is to choose a non-direct flight . Some of these flights , sometimes have 24 hours wait, which means that you will be able to have a taste of another destination until the time the flight to your main destination is departing.

4. Keep in mind that you will need to sacrifice some of your comfort, since most low budget flights depart really early in the morning, at dawn. If you want to travel the time that best suits you, be ready to put your hand in the wallet.
5. Leave your privacy back home. Consider on staying at a shared dorm in a decent hostel. You are going to save a serious amount of money. Another option would be to book a private room which still would cost seriously cheaper in a hostel than in a hotel.
