5 Tips for vacations on a Budget vol 2

Budget holidays

Here are some tips coming from my traveling experience, which really helped me to save money and be able to travel more without being miserable about my economic situation.

1. Take with you only the absolutely necessary, not your hole closet. This will reduce the volume and weight of your luaggage which means that you won't need to pay more for oversize and overweight luggage . Also you might be able to take only a hand luggage which means a seriously cheaper airticket.
2. Try to limit to zero, your mobile use for international calls and texting. Today, it is absolutely unnecessary to use your mobile for communication purposes since the internet has made planet earth one big neighborhood. Just be sure that the place you are going to book has a high speed wifi connection.

3. Prepare your own meals. A considerable amount of your expenses come from eating in touristy - mostly - taverns. Of course you should taste the local cuisine, but in a different way. You can visit a farmer's market and buy some local ingredients, so to prepare cold snacks which will be a substitute for one or two meals.
4. You can always attend a fun event for free. Most countries have websites where you can find an agenda with every free event happening. For example forfree.gr provides information about free screenings, parties, live music and many other events which are open to the audience.

5. When it comes to sightseeing you have to think smart. You can always purchase a sightseeing pass in a fixed price, which includes a variety of historic monuments, museums, galleries and sometimes discount to public transportation, all in a bargain price.
