5 Tips When Travelling With a Ferry

These are the best travel tips you need to know when you book your ferry ticket and you are about to travel with a ferry to the Greek islands. Get your pen and get your list ready!

Be on time at the port!

Whether you leave from the port of Pireas or Rafina port in Athens just know that the ferry does not wait anyone! So make sure to arrive on time at the port and if you are taking a car with you make sure you have parked the car and wait on the right side where all the cars get in the ferry.

Avoid traffic!

To make sure you are on time for your journey, have in mind that ports get busy during the high season and the summer and the traffic around it can be big so that causes delays if you haven't left earlier to arrive on time.

Get inside early!

We don't want to make you wake up to early but just know the earlier you can get in the ferry in the morning or any time the better chances you have to get a better sit. You don't want to spend 6 hours outside all the time or sitting on a single chair crashed with  dozens that are in the same position as you are. Arrive early , get in early make your choice where you prefer to spend the next hours of your life and enjoy your trip!
Of course if you are travelling and you have booked a cabin you can arrive anytime you want without worrying about anything! Again if you are travelling on a VIP or business class you may forget all of the above! Everything will be waiting for you, no need to hurry!

Bring a book or your favourite playlist!

Time needs to be spent wisely. Consider the things you can do if you have 5 or more hours ahead and no internet. The connection is usually bad when you are on the sea on a ferry so don't count too much on mobile on line surfing. So time to remember the old school tips, such as reading your favourite book, listen to your favourite ebook or audio book, listen to your best songs ever on your playlist or just close your eyes and relax. You are heading to the Greek islands after all, time to empty your thoughts from all the heavy weight!

Always check the time and the weather before travelling!

Especially if you travel from a Greek island you have to check the weather as if the ferry is a speed one and it is too windy there is a possibility of cancelation. The wind can be strong sometimes during the summer and some speed boats can not travel. So arrive early, check if your boat is expected to come on time or if it is expected after all and plan accordingly. It may be a great loss of time if you just sit and wait without checking and knowing what is going on!
