Anytime is a good time to travel to Greece

Greece ● 22 October 2017

Greece is famous all over the world as a top summer destination. Fascinating beaches, crystal clear sea waters, unique islands, sunny weather. What else does someone want for its summer vacation? Many Greek islands, such as Mykonos, Santorini, Zakynthos and Crete, attract thousands of tourists every season from May to September and are considered dream trips.

However, Greece is not only a summer destination but a destination for all seasons. Have you ever thought about visiting Greece after September and before May? Everything you enjoy during the high-season, you can also enjoy it during the off-season and take advantage of other assets you haven't ever imagined. Still waiting?

Greece is a Mediterranean southern country, and consequently its warm weather is one of its biggest assets. Something you may not know is that Greece has sunny weather with temperatures over 25 degrees from April to October. Moreover, in some places, like the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and Crete, good weather can be expected all year long. Especially if your homeland is a northern country and you can’t stand hot temperatures, visiting Greece in fall or spring, when temperature is 20-25 degrees, is a wise thing to do to feel comfortably and enjoy your vacation. Thus, you can explore the beautiful Greek towns and villages as well as the archaeological sites without the danger of a heat- or sunstroke. Remember also that the sea, especially in autumn, is warm enough to swim and enjoy its turquoise waters, while sunbathing is not as dangerous as in summer, when the sun can really harm you.

Furthermore, during the off-season, it is very likely to find unbeatable accommodation and ferries deals in Greece. Greek hotels are cheap, booking your ferry ticket is easy, and unbelievable offers in accommodation packages are waiting for you. Entrance fee to museums and ancient sites are also significantly lower than during summer, while air-tickets are also affordable.

Flexibility is another advantage of travelling off-season in Greece. If you want to visit a Greek island in July or August, you have to plan the trip several months before your arrival. Most destinations are fully booked in the high-season, and thus it is really difficult to find a room in a hotel, ferry tickets or air-tickets. In fall and spring, you can find many last-minute deals in Greece and generally be flexible with your schedule. If you are a spontaneous person, think about it and do what is best for your character.

If you think of what Greece can offer to its visitor, you will understand that nothing can't be enjoyed during the off-season. Its delicious cuisine, its stunning natural beauty, its calm sea, its warm weather, its long and rich history with the plethora of museums and ancient sites, all of these great things are waiting for you. You can choose an island that is perfect for autumn vacation and enjoy luxury yet affordable holidays in Greece.
