You have certainly heard about Greek Island Hopping, but you may think that travelling from one island to another is too expensive for you. Well, it's about time to reconsider! Island Hopping in Greece can be cheap and ideal for budget travellers. The first thing you have to do is to book an island pass, such as the Greek Island Pass, which gives you the opportunity to make all the routes you want between the Greek islands paying only for one ticket and having flexibility to choose when you want to travel. Second step is to travel during the low-season in Greece, such as in May, September or October, and you will find great ferry and accommodation deals in Greece. Irrespective of these two factors, however, there are some Greek islands that are considerably cheap and allow you to do Greek vacation on a budget. Check here the three best routes you can make between these untouched cheap Greek islands and get ready for amazing vacation in Greece at a reasonable budget.

Schinoussa-Donousa-Irakleia

Small Cyclades are wonderful undiscovered Cycladic islands that have something unique to offer to you, peace, privacy and really low prices. They are located in a very close distance to each other, so that you can travel from one island to another in less than an hour.

Schinoussa has the style that all the other Small Cyclades have. Secluded long bays with turquoise waters and golden sand, small settlements, wild landscape and authentic locals. Away from mass tourism, you can enjoy there the beauty of nature and feel that you own the island. Every day, you can eat fresh fish because the locals are still fishermen and fish to provide the few taverns of Schinoussa with fresh seafood.

In Donousa, you will find total privacy and relaxation. The most beautiful area of Donousa is the southern side of the island, with long exotic sandy bays, such as Kedros and Livadi. The only settlement of the island is the port, an authentic small Chora with some taverns and café-bars to spend calm days and nights discussing with the locals and finding your inner peace.

Irakleia is the less inhabited destination among the Small Cyclades. With only a few houses around the port, Irakleia impresses its visitors with its virgin landscape and its lonely beaches. Livadi is the best beach of the island, an imposing cove with the clearest waters you can find in Aegean Sea.

Anafi-Sikinos-Kimolos

Another island-hopping route you can make in Cyclades is the islands of Anafi, Sikinos and Kimolos.

Anafi will impress you with its gorgeous beaches, the azure waters of the Aegean Sea and its typical Cycladic Chora. On Anafi, you can eat cheap fresh fish and stay in hotels and rooms to let, where the double room costs less than 30€ in the low-season. Moreover, all beaches are public, and you can swim without having to pay an entrance fee or a sunbed.

Sikinos is a small, rocky Cycladic island, in a close distance to Folegandros. It is the perfect destination for hiking thanks to its cliffs and mountains that will offer you a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea and the complex of Cyclades. The Chora is typically Cycladic, with small white houses, and the turquoise waters of the sea are calling you to swim in an experience of true calmness.

Kimolos was basically, million years ago, part of Milos, and thus, it has the same impressive landscape as well as volcanic and mineral earth, which gives Kimolos its natural product, the chalk that is also the name of the island (Kimolos comes etymologically from the Greek word κιμωλία, which means chalk). Imposing rocks, azure waters and a colourful scenery together with a white, lovely capital is what Kimolos has to offer to its visitors together with unbelievably low prices. An off-the-beaten-track heaven, an unspoiled oasis that is a hidden gem of Greece, ideal for people, who search an authentic place and want to save money.

Tilos-Chalki-Nisyros

On the island complex of Dodecanese, you can find three small islands that have stunning beaches and picturesque local settlements that will steal your heart with their beauty.

Tilos is an amazing unspoiled destination with secluded beaches and small traditional villages. The most touristic place is the port of the island, but you will be impressed by the village Mikro Chorio, a ghost village with abandoned buildings. If you want total privacy and low prices, your place to be is Tilos, which is also the ultimate destination for free camping in nature.

Chalki is one of the smallest inhabited islands of the Dodecanese with a permanent population of 330 people, which is increased during the summer months. Because its tourism is not as developed as on the other islands, Chalki is ideal for peace and privacy. The island is characterised by its impeccable architecture and the relaxing beaches, which are accessible by bus or on foot.

Nisyros is a volcanic island with wide caldera. Its volcano, the youngest volcano in Greece, is currently active but not erupting, so you don't have to worry about that. If you have heard about the volcano of Santorini, but you want an undeveloped and authentic destination, Nisyros is an excellent alternative. You can stay in Mandraki or Nikia, which are picturesque villages that can offer you the calmness you are looking for.
