Mani

Mani, the middle peninsula of Peloponnese, represents the wild site of Peloponnese  and is a treasure of Byzantine churches, castles and towers. Mani is a complex of villages in Messinia and Lakonia, and among the most impressive villages by the sea, are considered Gerolimenas, Limeni and Areopolis Mani. Stone-built houses, narrow streets, traditional shops, local products and the clearest sea-water in whole Peloponnese make these places popular in summer as well as in winter.

The Monastery of Mega Spileo

The Holy Monastery of Mega Spileo is the oldest orthodox monastery in Greece. It is located 10 km from Kalavrita, and it was built in 362 A.D. on a rocky hill, at height of 924 m. Its architecture reminds of a fortress, and it is worth mentioning that the monastery was constructed by two brothers when a shepherd girl found miraculously an icon of Virgin Mary inside a cave. It is believed that Apostle Luke painted the icon.
