Some destinations in Greece are considered to be gay-friendly places and receive many gay and lesbian tourists every summer. Generally, the most touristic places in Greece are gay-tolerant, and every traveller will not encounter any discrimination, but some places have been specifically characterised thus and offer many gay-friendly hotels and bars. Furthermore, there are in Greece special events on various islands to support homosexual rights and fight against homophobia.

1. Mykonos

Mykonos is the most famous gay-friendly place in Greece, if not in Europe. Many places in Mykonos are especially organised to match the needs of the homosexual community. Gay hotels are the perfect choice for a romantic accommodation with your partner, and be ready to enjoy the gay-friendly facilities that will make your vacations unforgettable. Mykonos has amazing beaches, and the good news are that some of them -like Elia Beach (Mykonos) and Super Paradise Beach (Mykonos)- are the place to be for all gay and lesbian travellers. Lesvos is the birthplace of the ancient poetess Sappho, and thus, it features a long tradition on lesbian lifestyle. Lesvos is the number one preference of lesbian couples in Greece. The Annual international Eressos Women's Festival includes many performances, workshops and fashion shows, informing the people about the rights of the homosexual community. In Lesvos, you will not feel isolated, but the amazing thing is that it is also an island that attracts honeymooners, families and many young people. They are all open-minded, and you will be welcome everywhere.
