Island-hopping: a personal experience of this amazing way to explore Greece

Cyclades ● 03 June 2017

Island-hopping is an unforgettable experience you can have in the Greek islands. Beautiful islands, located in a very close distance to each other, are waiting for you to explore them and see a different island every day. Everyone, who comes in Greece, should live this experience, and the best island complex to do that are Cyclades. Located near Athens, these unique islands have great variety and can offer you many alternatives during your island-hopping vacations.

Of course, as an Athenian, I knew this information, but I never had the chance to try island-hopping. The duration of my vacations was always short, and I chose only one island for four or five days. It was the summer when I graduated from the university, and I had a lot of time to prepare dream vacations. Together with a friend of mine, we decided to spend some days in Mykonos, to have fun and party. We were only 21 years old.

Things in Mykonos were amazing, we lived the vivid nightlife of the island every night until early in the morning, but my friend was a little bit disappointed because we were students and Mykonos was expensive for us. The third day, we have spent so much money that we definitely couldn't afford many more days on the island. We didn't want to end our vacations, so we decided to go to another party island. Paros was the best and cheaper than Mykonos alternative. This was very easy. We took the ferry, and in about one hour, we were in Paros. We were excited. The feeling that we could have real vacations, without programming, was for us redemptive after the years of our studies. In Paros, we heard about Antiparos, the small island near Paros that is perfect for a day trip. We took the boat, and in 15 minutes, we were there. Our day trip was amazing. We swam and ate in Antiparos, and then, we were back in Paros, in our hotel. Two days after this day trip, a guy told us about the most famous disco in Cyclades, La Luna in Antiparos. The boat from Paros to Antiparos operated 24/7, so it was the easiest thing to go to Antiparos in the evening and then return early in the morning.

After some days with my friend, we decided that it was time to meet our boyfriends. We wanted to spend some days with them in a romantic island. I went to Folegandros, and she went to Santorini. After returning to Athens, I realised that I have visited many of the most popular islands of Greece, done many different activities and enjoyed various styles of vacations in only 10 days.
