The Mountain Pilion is ideal for winter as well as summer holidays thanks to its mountainous villages, its lush nature and its wonderful beaches. Pilion is located in a close distance to the beautiful town of Volos, which is perfect for a promenade near the sea and the port as well as for the food in one of the traditional little restaurants on the seafront that are famous for their seafood appetisers in combination with tsipouro. In addition to Volos, Mountain Pilion combines the summer with the winter scenery and attracts tourists all year long. The traditional mountainous villages in combination with seaside villages and astonishing beaches in a close distance to each other give the traveller the opportunity to experience winter and summer holidays together!

Pilion is full of picturesque villages, each one with a different style and a unique character. Makrinitsa is one of the most beautiful villages with a breathtaking view of Volos. Built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a green mountainside, it is the jewel of the area and a popular destination for winter and spring. In a close distance to Makrinitsa, are located the equally wonderful villages of Portaria Pilion and Vizitsa. Both have lovely squares, traditional mansions and stone houses, lush greenery, perfect view to the Pagasetic Gulf and Volos as well as paths in the mountain, which are perfect for the lovers of hiking.

Traditional architecture, green nature, trekking paths and running waters have also the villages of Tsagkarada Pilion, Milies Piliou and Chania Pilion. Tsagkarada Pilion is located in a close distance to the famous beach with the same name, while Milies Piliou is at the centre of the mountain, at its highest point. The cog train from Volos to Milies Piliou passes through rare natural sceneries and is a perfect trip of 2 hours that you will never forget.  Chania Pilion is the closest village to the Ski Center of Pilion, giving you the opportunity to ski while enjoying the sea view.

The peninsula of Pilion offers also some truly amazing beaches, some of the most wonderful and popular in Greece. With the crystal waters of the Aegean Sea and green scenery, they are the best place to swim, relax and admire the beauty of the nature. Agios Ioannis Pilion, Mylopotamos,  Tsagkarada Pilion, Papa Nero and Horefto are the most famous among them. They are organised, offering all touristic facilities, and after swimming, you can eat or drink coffee in the beautiful seaside villages that are located next to these beaches.
