However, for the lovers of contemporary art, take place in Athens significant art exhibitions in galleries, exhibition venues and museums, which host the work of visionary, new talents that can impress you.

It is common that many exhibitions are organised in popular museums of Athens. In the Museum of Cycladic Art as well the Benaki Museum, are organised creative contemporary art exhibitions that have something new to offer. Furthermore, the National Museum of Contemporary Art presents temporary exhibitions and organises events, and soon, it will have its permanent collection open to the public.

With reference to the galleries in Athens, you will be surprised to learn that there are important galleries, which host national as well as international exhibitions. The Breeder Gallery in Metaxourgeio Athens presents artists, such as Andreas Angelidakis, and tries to build strong relationships between art platforms and major biennales around the world. Bernier/Eliades Gallery in Thiseio champions a variety of artistic genres, such as minimalism, arte povera, land art and conceptual art, welcoming Greek as well as a young generation of American and European artists. In Thiseio, is also located the Eleni Koroneou Gallery, an innovative pioneer of contemporary art, which hosts exhibitions from internationally renowned artists, such as Helmut Middendorf, Michel Majerus and Dieter Roth. Gallery 7, in Kolonaki, takes a pluralistic approach to art, representing a diverse range of practitioners, such as painters, engraves, photographers and installation artists. One of the most striking art exhibitions of the gallery was the exhibition of the atmospheric paintings of the Australian artist Chrys Roboras.

The most popular periodic art exhibitions in Athens are Documenta 14 and Athens Biennale.
