Summer vacation on a mountain? Yeap! Undoubtedly when thinking of vacation some of the words that come in mind are: summer, beach, sea, waves, swimming, nature… What if I told you that you could find all these “around” a mountain? Not just a mountain though, this post is dedicated to the “magical mountain” -as I like to call it- Pelion

Here, you will relax your senses while having your vacation as close to nature as you can get, surrounded by trees and fresh air! The clue is that Mt. Pelion is in a special geographical location, so special that you can smell the sea breeze and dive into a great selection of unimaginably beautiful beaches, almost untouched by human hands. How divine is that?

Enjoy your stay in one of the 24 picturesque villages that complete this astonishing masterpiece with their traditional rooftops made of stone. The mountain rises imposingly and spectacularly over the north-west of Volos. It is hard to miss, especially if you arrive by car from Athens. The view is outstanding. You must be ready for that perfect turn when the vehicle reaches that special spot. Then, the view will astound you. You might speak out words like “wow” to yourself, as you watch the mountain take shape in front of you. The journey has begun…

Mind you that Mt. Pelion, according to tradition, was the mythical land of the Centaurs and the summer residence of the Olympian Gods.

Reasons to love spending your vacations in the summer residence of the Gods:

-The evergreen mountainsides that touch every beach surrounding the Pagasetic Gulf, as well as the slopes that lead to the Aegean Sea.

-The view when staying at places like Zagora Pilion, Makrinitsa, Tsagkarada Pilion. It can give you a breathtaking experience.

-It is the best place to be when the temperature has reached 40 degrees Celsius. Why? You can relax under the plane trees, while the temperature is around 18 or even less. You are going to love that shadow!

-You should seek for the best fish taverns of the area, where you could taste some of the most exquisite fish of the Aegean. Fresh, straight from the sea to your plate.

-This green natural fortress has a great history and cultural appeal. The region is full of myths and legends. Anyone interested in mythology, history, architecture, trekking, adventure or simply nature will have a great story to tell when returning home…

-You have to try some of the “secret” beaches. To name a few: Fakistra, Melani, Paou. We can provide extra information if you’d like.

It always depends on what kind of traveller you are. In Mt. Pelion you can either enjoy the private side of this magnificent place or have a party at the beach with your friends. Even if you wish to enjoy a more cosmopolitan style, you can find that too! Let me just say that you can take a fast boat and land on Skiathos island in about 20 minutes from the south shores. The choices are plenty!
