The amazing beaches of Naxos

Cyclades ● Naxos ● 25 April 2017

Naxos, which is located in the centre of Cyclades and is the largest island of this complex, has long history, rich culture, impeccable architecture and wonderful inland villages. Therefore, the visitor of Naxos has many things to do and explore on this interesting island, which is ideal for families and couples. Among these activities, are also the beaches of Naxos that will impress you with their characteristic length, golden sand and crystal waters, which are typically Cycladic, as well as with their wind sports facilities.

1. Agios Prokopios

Agios Prokopios beach (Naxos) is considered one of the most famous beaches in Cyclades. It is a long sandy beach with 1,5 km length, and it has two parts. One part is organised, with umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns and touristic facilities. The other part is quiet, unspoiled and impresses everyone with its natural beauty. Agios Prokopios Naxos is easily reachable by bus from Naxos Chora.

2. Mikri Vigla

Mikri Vigla Beach (Naxos) is the most popular wind- and kitesurfing spot in Naxos and Cyclades. The wind is perfect for these sports, and the water sports centres there are numerous. The place consists of two sandy beaches, separated by an impressive hill. The northern part is the ideal, internationally famous, spot for wind sports due to the characteristic in Cyclades north wind, which is called meltemi. The southern part is protected, and thus, it is family-friendly and relaxing. The continuation of this part is considered another beach, which has the name Sahara thanks to its soft sand.

3. Agios Georgios

Agios Georgios Naxos is the closest beach to Naxos Chora. Long and sandy, with all touristic facilities you may need, Agios Georgios Naxos is family-friendly and relaxing.

4. Plaka

Plaka beach (Naxos) is a long strip of white sand, with sand dunes behind the beach. From there, you have a stunning view of Paros. At the beginning of the coast, you can find umbrellas and sunbeds, but the largest part remains unspoiled.

5. Agia Anna

Agia Anna Beach (Naxos) is located in a district that is developed as a picturesque tourist resort. Seaside taverns and lovely hotels make Agia Anna Beach (Naxos) the perfect place for a day with every facility you may need. A small fishing port and some rocky formations are combined nicely with the long sandy shore.

6. Pyrgaki

Pyrgaki is a golden, calm beach that reflects the peaceful character of Naxos. It has shallow waters, some sunbeds and umbrellas as well as a restaurant in a close distance that serves coffee and snacks. Therefore, Pyrgaki is family-friendly for an unforgettable day with your children by the sea.
