The best Greek islands when travelling solo

Crete ● Greece ● Kefalonia ● Kythnos ● Samos ● tilos ● 06 June 2017

The Greek islands are numerous, and they offer great variety according to your wishes and tastes. They can fulfil your wishes even when you travel alone, a habit that is very usual nowadays. However, it is not always easy to choose the right island, but in this article, you will read about the criteria you should follow and the islands that are best for this kind of vacations.

A simple way to choose an island, if you are intend to travel solo, is to go to an island that is perfect for partying thanks to its vivid nightlife. Mykonos, Paros and Rhodes are only some of these islands, where you will have fun, meet young people and make new friends.

Mykonos

However, it is not very common in Greece that people travel in these islands alone, but rather they prefer travelling with their company, so there is always the possibility that at the beginning, it may be a little bit difficult to meet people with the same way of living and spending their vacations with you. Furthermore, if you are not in the 20's, you may find these islands too crowded with teenagers and single people. In that case, it is better for you to find another island, which can offer you new experiences without having to party the whole time.

You should definitely avoid the romantic islands for couples. Santorini, Milos and Folegandros among others, are not the ideal choices since they are full of couples that make you feel weird. Keep these islands for your honeymoon or your holiday with your other half.

Safe choices are big islands, like Crete, Samos and Kefalonia. There, you can have many alternatives, explore different places, have new experiences and find exactly what you are searching for out of the innumerable things you can do there.

Kefalonia

If you are a lover of the adventure and you want to live something unique, off the beaten path, you can try an untouched Greek island. Unspoiled islands in Greece you can find easily, like Kythnos, Tilos or Sikinos. In these places, you will have the feeling of being appreciated by the locals and sharing the same thoughts and values with the other travellers. Additionally, these islands are small, with only a few facilities and alternatives, which means that you will easily get familiar with the other tourists, while at the same time, you can spend your day and night with the local people, who are hospitable and willing to help you and show you the best out of their island.
