The best villages to visit in Mykonos

Cyclades ● Mykonos ● 15 May 2017

Mykonos, the island of the crazy nightlife and the magical beaches with the white sand and the turquoise waters, has also wonderful villages, where you can have a stroll, eat and spend unforgettable moments. In addition to Mykonos Town, there are other small villages that can show you the authentic character of the island. However, no village can be compared to the beauty and the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Mykonos Town, but these villages are a good opportunity to go off the beaten path and explore a different side of the island.

1. Mykonos Town

Mykonos Town is considered to be one of the most impressive towns in Cyclades. In spite of the mass tourism, Mykonos Town has kept its traditional character and can offer you everything you ask in its beautiful spots and the narrow, cobblestone streets. Romanticism, shopping, wild nightlife or just a walk together with your camera, which is absolutely necessary, are only some of the things you can do in this amazing Cycladic Chora, which will make you fall in love with at first sight.

2. Ano Mera

Ano Mera is the second largest village in Mykonos after Mykonos Town and one of the oldest villages on the island. It is a calm place, where you can eat in one of the traditional Greek taverns and then, visit the interesting monastery of Panagia Tourliani, where you can admire the suburb collection of icons and holy vessels.

3. Glastros

Glastros is a settlement near Mykonos Airport, with many summer houses and elegant hotels. Its location is very suitable because it is located within walking distance from Mykonos Town and is near the famous beaches on the southern part of the island.

4. Tourlos

Tourlos Mykonos is a picturesque small settlement and a port with yachts, caiques and cruise ships. Tourlos Mykonos is also a perfect spot to stay because it is calm, has a lovely beach and is located only 2 km from Mykonos Town. In Tourlos Mykonos, you can also visit the churches and chapels, which are built according to the Cycladic architecture, such as Agios Georgios and Agia Sofia.

5. Ornos

Ornos Mykonos is a popular tourist resort in a cove that forms a natural harbour. Seaside taverns and restaurants, the beautiful Ornos Beach (Mykonos) and numerous accommodation options make Ornos Mykonos, which is located 4km from Mykonos Town, the place to be, if you want to relax and wake up every morning in a stunning spot.
