The wonderful beaches of Serifos

Serifos ● 21 August 2017

Serifos, this small, authentic and wild island of Cyclades, is an ideal destination for a short summer break as well as a perfect place for longer holidays because on the island, you have many things to do, but at the same time, you can relax and get rest. One of the biggest assets in Serifos are its beaches with their turquoise waters and golden sand, creating an amazing place to swim, sunbathe and enjoy the sea. The island is full of astonishing beaches with a typically Greek and Cycladic landscape.

Agios Sostis

Agios Sostis is, in my opinion, the most impressive beach of the island due to the small white church at the edge of the cliff and the fact that there are actually two beaches, one on the northern and one on the southern side. Plus, the waters there are the clearest I have seen in Cyclades.

Kalo Ampeli

Kalo Ampeli is one of the quietest and most private beaches because you have to cover the final distance on foot. If you love nature and hiking, this walk (about 20 minutes) is amazing, and the view will recompense you.

Megalo Livadi

This beach is characterised by the old mines that where located there. In Megalo Livadi, you can visit the memorial of the strikers, who lost their lives in 1919 because they asked for better working conditions and an eight-hour work per day rule. In the area, you can also follow the mining trail and walk among rusty old cars, train tracks and broken rail car bridges. On the beach, there is a nice tavern to eat and drink by the sea, near the old impressive bridge of the mines.

Ganema is a lovely sandy beach with turquoise waters and trees that provide shadow. You can find there a tavern to eat or drink something.

Psili Ammos

Psili Ammos is one of the most famous beaches in Serifos. Golden sand, long coastline, emerald waters and some trees are creating a typically Cycladic landscape for an unforgettable day by the sea. In Psili Ammos, there is also a traditional Greek tavern.

Sikamia is the most secluded coast of Serifos, and therefore, it is ideal for total isolation and relaxing. It is sandy and pebbly with some trees. Don't forget to take with you water and umbrellas because in Sikamia you won't find any tourism facilities.
