Tips for low budget Christmas travel

Greece ● 27 December 2016

Christmas travel is one of the best travel experiences you will ever have. If you think that this decision is something too expensive to be afforded by you, then the good news are that you are wrong. There are some tips that will make your Christmas holidays cheap and will help you find hotels and flights on a reasonable budget.

The key and the most important advice is to be flexible. The prices in December can be high, but if you are flexible with your days, you are going to get a great deal. It is not difficult to figure out that the most expensive time to fly is when everyone else wants to fly too. However, if you fly on December 25 or 31, when all travellers want to be in their destination or back home, you will find incredibly low fares. You should also be willing to depart early in the morning or late in the evening because then, you have the better chances to find cheap tickets.

Another tip for saving money for your vacations during the festive season is to book everything early. The hotels and the airlines tend to increase their fares the closer we get to the holidays. The earlier you can begin booking your travel arrangements, the more likely is to save money on your travel budget.

Being flexible with your destination and willing to do something alternative is also important. Maybe travelling to Prague or Vienna at Christmas sounds dreamy, but one thing is for sure. In these cities, you can't find low prices during Christmas holidays even if you book the accommodation and the flight a year ago! It is preferable to visit a country or a town that is not that famous, but it will actually offer you the same moments of happiness. Exploring a new destination is something astonishing every time of the year, and maybe, you should think of the possibility to travel to a summer destination like Greece. The prices will be affordable, the crowds will be significantly less and the shopkeepers relaxed. In conclusion, everyone will be ready to offer you better services than in August. Furthermore, the weather will be much warmer than in the European Christmas cities. If your hometown is cold, without much daylight during winter, there is nothing more resuscitative than visiting an island or a town with warm weather and sunshine even in December.
