1. Wine Tasting in Nemea

Just 1,5 hours drive away in Peloponnese peninsula lie the wine valleys of Nemea. This ancient, historical and traditional little town of Peloponnese has some of the best local wine that you can find in Greece. You will find some of the most beautiful boutique wineries in a gorgeous natural surrounding and landscape. Agiorgitiko is the famous local wine of the area that you can combine with some fantastic local dishes of homemade food that you can find almost at every tavern and restaurant of the town. Don't forget to make some space in your luggage for some extra bottles; you will definitely want to take some back home!

Tip for Nemea: Nafplio, the first capital of Greece, a gorgeous picturesque town is just a short drive from Nemea. So make sure you will not leave the area without a walk in the old town or the castle of Nafplio that offers a fantastic panoramic view over the town and the sea!

2. Hydra: The Greek Island that Leonard Cohen loved!

Hydra is a unique destination! It stands out from the rest of the Greek islands due to its amazing architecture and natural beauty. You will not see any car in Hydra and the whole atmosphere and style of the island will take you back in time. Leonard Cohen fall in love with this island back in the 60s, bought a house here and spent most summers of his life. Celebrities from around the world chose Hydra for their holidays and for sure you will agree that this island has a special vibe, class and beauty! It will take you just 1.5 hours from Peiraias port to reach the port of Hydra and you will find ferries on a daily basis all year round.

Tip for Hydra: Check out the local galleries and the artistic shops that are around the island and be prepared to find some real gems that you won't find anywhere else in the world!


3. Windsurfing and Kitesurfing in Loutsa

Ever wondered if you can do windsurfing or Kitesurfing in Athens? Well, it could not be easier! The coastline of Athens is gorgeous and the wind is in great conditions all year round in Loutsa -Artemida area which is a superb just 35Km away from downtown Athens. Imagine: your walk up to Acropolis  and then you come down and get your boards and head to the beach for some sport adrenaline! Athens has it all and no matter how many times you have visited this surprising city, it never stops to give you more reasons to come back to explore some more!

Top Tip for Loutsa: Even if you have never tried windsurfing or kitesurfing in your life, here you will find some of the best schools and teachers in the country! If you want to make a good start in this sport, you came to the right place!

4. Escape for the day in Agistri Island

Picturesque, quiet, beautiful waters, romantic and unspoiled are some of the main characteristics of Agistri island, a beautiful destination just 1 hour away from the port of Peiraias and Athens. You will find more than two ferries on a daily basis that visit the island so you have many options even if you decide to visit the island on the last minute. You will find some very nice local taverns serving fresh fish and traditional Greek cuisine, value for money accommodation and gorgeous beaches ideal for swimming, water sports or just relaxation. Agistri is ideal for couples, families, solo travellers or group of friends.

Tip for Agistri: Take time to walk around the island or even cycle around it. You will enjoy the unspoiled nature and the warm hospitality of the locals.


5. Κea Island the classic choice

Kea or Tzia island is the favourite Greek island for the Athenians as it is very beautiful, very laid back and very close to the city of Athens. You will need to drive or take the bus and reach Lavrio port and within just an hour you will reach the port of Kea or Tzia. The island is ideal for sailing lovers, for all the food enthousiasts - you will find some amazing fresh fish and local dishes!- and for those who want to relax away from the noise and the stress of the big cities.
Those who know say that visiting Tzia can be quite addictive so don't say we did not warn you!

Tip for Tzia: There are not so many hotels on the island so if you plan to visit during the summer's peak season, better book early!
