Top destinations in Greece for spring will show you another side of Greece with verdant nature, colourful valleys, pleasant temperatures and traditional towns that look like coming from the past. Spring is an ideal season to visit picturesque settlements, walk around, explore the beautiful mountains and be in contact with the rebirth of nature. These towns or villages can offer you moments of true relaxation and prove that Greece is not only its islands. Enjoy!

Nafplion

Nafplion is the most beautiful town in Peloponnese. The medieval atmosphere, the nostalgic aura of the Old Town with the narrow paved streets, the cobblestone promenade, the fish taverns by the sea and the cosmopolitanism of this small city make Nafplion one of the most popular spring destinations. Visit the Palamidi Fortress and the Castle of islet Mpourtzi or just make a walk in the area around, which during spring is full of blooming lemon and orange trees.

Kavala

Kavala in Macedonia in northern Greece is one of the best-preserved and prettiest old towns. Built amphitheatrically on a hill by the sea, it impresses the visitors not only with its multicultural aura between East and West but also with its beauty. Islamic buildings, charming neighbourhoods, important museums, such as Tobacco and Archaeological Museum, as well as the UNESCO historical site of Philippi guarantee that you find this visit totally interesting.

Zagorochoria

Zagorochoria is a complex of mountainous villages in the slopes of Mt. Pindos in Epirus. They have kept their traditional, authentic character, and you will be impressed by the surrounding natural beauty with rivers, forests and gorges, but also the relaxing and captivating atmosphere of every single village, which is located in the wider complex of the area and charms every visitor with its stone-built houses and towers. You can stay there in a traditional Greek guesthouse in one village and make excursions from there to other villages by car or on foot, hiking on the gorgeous hiking paths of Mt. Pindos.

Mani

Mani is a complex of imposing traditional villages with stone-built towers and mansions surrounded by a wild, dry landscape in southern Peloponnese. These villages offer you a great opportunity for a road trip to explore the whole area during spring when the temperature is not very warm and you can conveniently enjoy the dry nature. You can start from Gytheio, pass by Areopolis and then, drive the whole second peninsula of Peloponnese. You will pass by amazing villages, such as Gerolimenas, Limeni, Vathia, Koita and Lagia, and you will see a scenery you have not seen before.

Parga

Parga is a top destination in the region of Epirus, and it is located in a secluded bay of the Ionian Sea. The colourful houses of this small town are constructed amphitheatrically along the slopes of a mountain. Except from the nice view of the sea and its medieval character, Parga has also friendly shops and cosmopolitan character especially in the weekends.

Prespa Lakes

The National Park of Prespa Lakes is home to diverse fauna and flora. It is renowned for its rich biodiversity as it is home to 260 species of birds, 1,500 plants, 23 fish and 60 mammals species- that is more than half of the species to be found in Greece and Europe. Red and white pelicans, ducks, cormorants, herons and geese are only some of the interesting animals you can watch in Prespa Lakes, the natural paradise where man and nature live together in harmony. Especially in spring, the beauty of the landscape is just breathtaking.
