What to Do and See in Patmos

Patmos is a unique destination, a Greek island of a special character, amazing vibe, great natural beauty and spirituality. Patmos is a perfect choice if you are travelling with friends, family or if you are a solo traveller. Here is why!

Visit Chora

The Chora of Patmos is a Unesco world heritage thanks to its amazing architecture and the monastery of Saint John the Theologian that is located right on top of it. Visit the monastery and enjoy its gorgeous architecture inside and the wonderful view of the island outside. The monks of the monastery will give you a tour and explain to you more about the history of this holy place that will amaze you!

Chora is also ideal for a night out at the square with the eclectic wine and cocktail bars where you will see just everyone who is on the island at the same time as you are! The perfect meeting point!

Grekos Beach

This is a bay that is of unique beauty and has crystal clear blue water perfect for families with kids as the water is not deep and it is usually calm and peaceful. You will find a couple of nice taverns serving fresh sea food right on the beach and a couple of beach bars with no loud music or anything extreme. Patmos does not like extreme things and it is so harmonic that will just find its place in your heart forever!

Chrisi Akti

The most exotic beach in Dodecanese Chrisi Akti is the most wonderful beach of Patmos. The access to it is not the best as you need to leave the car in the parking area and then walk for about half an hour until you reach this remote, sandy beach with just one tavern on the beach that serves the most fantastic food on the island. The tavern is run by a family and the whole set up will make you feel that time has stopped and you are just left on a paradise on earth!

Labis Beach

Totally unspoiled and very different from the other beaches of the island, Labis beach is perfect if you are traveling with your family or your other half. It feels remote but it is not really as in general the island of Patmos is not big so everything is close and within easy access. You can leave your car at the parking area which is spacious and then walk on the pebble stones on the beach - remember not to take any stone with you as it is illegal!- and enjoy the sea or relax with a coffee on the beach bar or head to the traditional fishing tavern for the catch of the day.
Patmos will give you a different experience than what you usually find on the Greek islands.
Enjoy every single day of your stay.

Get to Patmos by ferry from Pireas port with plenty of routes that are offered on a daily basis.
