Wonder Woman celebrated becoming a Box office smash hit within a few days!

Israeli actress Gal Gadot with her portrayal of the iconic figure, the Amazonian princess Diana, managed to win the viewers favor. When you love what you do, that shows. The audience saw that in her performance and helped this action movie to become number one. While watching the film, we couldn't help but be amazed at the landscape of Themyscira, Wonder Woman's place of origin. The location was originally known as Paradise Island, no doubt about the reasons...

Although Wonder Woman is a fictional character, the base of its concept has a lot to do with Greece. Along the years, various deities and concepts from Greek myths were blended and incorporated into her stories and origin. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the myth of the Amazons, they were a race of female warriors in Greek mythology. Hippolyta, according to the myth, owned a magical girdle, given to her by the god of war Ares. This magical girdle had to be recovered by Hercules in order to complete one of the tasks given to him in the myth of the Labours of Hercules.

In Greece there are plenty of wonderful beaches that resemble the Paradise Island of the Amazons.
Believe us when we say that those destinations make a good enough reason to revisit the land of the Ancient Gods. Let's start with the Blue Caves of Zakynthos that bring in mind some of the shores of the Caribbean... Of course you can't miss the worldwide attention catching Shipwreck Beach, located on the same island. Papanikolis Cave on Lefkada, where the famous submarine was hidden (we will tell you more about it in another blog post), would definitely make a good choice. A must see destination is Melissani Cave in Kefalonia,  a unique geological phenomenon  that can be found on the east coast of the island. Bear in mind that Lefkada, Zakynthos and Kefalonia are part of the Ionian Islands.

Of course we couldn't leave behind the famous Lalaria Beach in Skiathos. A glorious destination that seems as if you've visited the coasts of New Zealand. Another interesting option is the Blue Cave of Alonissos, you might even come across a Mediterranean monk seal (also known as Monachus monachus) on your way there. Alonissos is near Skiathos, they belong to the North Sporades, so you can kill two birds with one stone...

Another excellent choice if you are touring the Aegean would be the exotic Seychelles Beach in Ikaria. A place where the sun reflecting off the white sand makes the scenery even more astonishing. Mylos, one of the most well-known islands of the Cyclades, is definitely an island worth visiting. If you are into pirate movies you will love the Kleftiko Beach. Note that you can go there only by ship. Kleftiko used to be an old hide-out for pirates! The complex of these volcanic original rocks is a magical landscape that is worth your admiration. Last but not least,  “Blue Grotto” in Kastellorizo cannot be left out. One of the prettiest islands of the Dodecanese, a remote gem of the Aegean that floats on the easternmost edge of Greece. If you have the chance and the time of course, don't miss the opportunity to try Island-Hopping! An excellent way to do that is by taking the Ferry or renting a boat. This experience will not be forgotten...
